Hotel Bologna
Pisa, Italy

After having stayed in a small family owned hotel the previous nights it was a very nice change staying at the Hotel Bologna in Pisa, Italy. The hotel is on a very narrow street a stones throw from the Arno River. There were 2 adults and one child in the room and it was huge to say the very least. The main room had a large bed, very spacious with ample room for loads of luggage without tripping over anything. It also included the entrance to the bathroom. There was a hallway with a large chest for hanging up clothes and extra linen. This also lead to a long narrow secondary room that containg two twin size beds. This is simply perfect for parents with children. Mom and Dad get a little privacy and the kids feel grown up with their own room inside of their parents without being in an ajoining room with a door to the hall.

The bathroom was by no mean oppulant but it was very clean and very spacious especially for a European bathroom in a historic building. The hotel staff at Hotel Bologna in Pisa were most welcoming and the bar stayed open late so it was nice to sit down and have a drink or two while soaking up the charm of this wonderful hotel.

This bathroom was so clean it glistened, it isn't just the pictures. Upon walking into the white tiled bathroom you are greeted by a single basin, a rack with some soft white towels and glass shelves with complimentary shampoo, conditioning etc. The mirror above the sink was ample for one person, although it might get a little cramped if two individuals were trying to get ready at the same time using that mirror. That said, we have no complaints about the bathroom at all.

As you can probably tell our bathroom had a bidet as do most washrooms in Europe. I do have a feeling that more people from North America use them to wash their feet if they use them at all. Those accustomed to using the bidet just can't live without them. Many Europeans do not feel the need to shower every single day, therefore the bidet in cases like this would do wonders to freshen up and keep that clean feeling. Beside the toilet you can see a metal dispenser. It dispenses plastic bags for the disposal of sanitary napkins. I see these frequently in Europe and think that more American washrooms should have them.

I loved the amount of towels this bathroom at the Hotel Bologna had. There is nothing more frusrating than not having enough towels and having to call housekeeping and wait for a fresh supply. Since I often shower more than once a day, extra towels sure do come in handy.

The hotel had a hairdryer attached to the wall that worked well, but you could not compare it to the blow dryer you may be used to from home. It also works to dry slightly damn clothing in a pinch if necessary. The kleenex box is also a welcome addition and a few tissues folded into your purse can be a life saver at times.

The Hotel Bologna in Pisa offered a good selection of gues amenities including shampoo, conditioner, shower caps, soaps and vanity sets. The vanity sets included q-tips as well as a polishing cloth and a emory board! These were all nicely packaged and displayed on their own shelves.

The pressure on the shower was very good and there was no shortage of hot water. One of the things I like about shower heads like this is that they are removable. No more twisting and turning to make sure all of the soap is off of your feet or you haven't missed any other hard to reach spot.

Ok, so this is not the most exciting picture we have ever put up but it does show the attention to detail. So many hotels forget that people need a place to put all of their products like shampoo and conditioner that I find it refreshing when one does remember. Also notice how sparkling clean the entire bathroom is, all of the tile glowed!
