Hotel Edelweiss,
Geneva, Switzerland

We have driven a good deal in Europe and I think the hardest thing we had to do was find the Hotel Edelweiss. The navigation did not locate it properly and it was down a one way street so it was difficult. A local fellow was kind enough to tell us how to get to it and once there, we felt silly in how easy it was to find. The hotel from the outside does not prepare you for what you find inside. The interior of the hotel makes you believe you are in some Swiss Chalet rather than a high rise hotel. You see a great deal of engraved wood over all of the common areas as well as in the rooms. The room was very adequate in size and we very much enjoyed the large work area set up for computers. It allowed me a few moments to stretch out my business work and get some necessary things done without the frustration of trying to do it on my lap or on the bed. Although our time in Geneva was short, we very much enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Edelweiss. Local liquor laws are different than the United States or Canada so be aware buying alcoholic beverages is restricted at certain times so be prepared and stock up early if needed.

The guest bathroom was spotless but I was expecting the bathroom to be more in keeping with the rest of the hotel room style wise. I can't however say I was disappointed with it as it offered everything we needed and it certainly was not a drab bathroom. The mirror in front of the sink was large enough to accomodate more than one person getting ready for the day at once which is a bonus when time is of the essence when on vacation.

The shower area had plenty of towels for our use and the shower head itself was very relaxing. There was no shower curtain, instead there was a half wall of glass to keep the water from getting on the floor. My personal preference is a shower door or curtain as these seem to keep in the warmth better. The half glass wall does however gives you a more spacious feeling and is perfect for those who do not like small spaces.

The complimentary ammenities were a welcome addition to the services provided by the hotel. The assortment was larger than many other hotels and they were of a very good quality. .

The toilet area of the bathroom is next to the vanity area. The toilet tissue was double thicckness and the rolls were not that large, so it meant you ran out of tissue very quickly. Be sure to ask for a second extra roll just in case because we ended up using both rolls plus finished off all of the tissue in just a few short hours. The bathroom also provided a very nice hair dryer and shaving mirror that women just love to use to put on their makeup. All in all a very nice bathroom, more on the utilitarian side than the wow factor.
