Rest Stop in Europe
Driving from Venice to Monte Carlo

Having spent a fair number of hours over the years at rest stops along the many highways I have driven on, I became accustomed to the spartan washrooms they provided. Many of the rest stop washrooms don't even have mirrors and if they do they are not glass but rather some sort of shiny metal that sort of gives you an idea of what you may look like. Europe provided us of many examples where the people that built them understood that they need not be dark, dank and dreary but can be light, cheery and a be quarky. The rest stop below was one we found while driving from Venice, Italy to Monte Carlo.

Rest Stop Italy
This was my first view of this light and modern bathroom. Shiny light gray tiles with modern sinks and a glass block back wall. I was shocked it was so nice!
Rest Stop Italy
These lovely square sinks are a modern touch that you will even find in private homes. Not only is there plenty of them, they are a feast for the eyes. Lovely!

Rest Stop Italy
This stall had a large mirror hung on a stanless steel wall. The very first time I have seen a mirror in a stall that is anything close to this size.

Even the toilet itssue dispenser had a whimsical feel about it.!

This shot shows the row of stall doors leading to the glass wall in the back. I like the little toilet seat sign on them.

The last shot is sort of dark but shows the view from the glass wall at the back of the washroom towards the entrance.
